The story
The major sixth ๐ท
006 โ the master six
The major sixth is the interval of warmth โ the leap in "My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean," the golden reach that makes a melody feel like it misses somebody. It doesn't resolve; it embraces. That is Alaska's interval, and Shaka named it before this page existed: the master six.
One name, like the best of them. Alaska lives the pop-up city life โ Cannes one month, a new temporary town the next โ where the address book is thin and the friendships are thick. In that world, one name is enough. The question the family keeps in its notebook for him, for the day the microphones are on: "What does friendship look like when nobody in the room has a permanent address?"
"The master six โ the man with the sax." โ Shaka ๐บ
The night in Cannes ๐ด
The ETHCC afterparty, Palais des Festivals, Cannes โ the same steps as the film festival, but this night belonged to the garden: barefoot ukulele, butterflies on the saxophone, Alaska at the decks, Morat on bass, and the whole garden dancing. That caption has lived on the orchestra's front door ever since, translated into a dozen languages. He plays both sides of that sentence: the sax and the decks โ a horn player's breath and a selector's patience in one musician.

The words we play by ๐
LISTEN โ NOTICE WHO ISN'T IN THE ROOM YET โ OPEN THE DOOR WIDER ยท Alaska's cadence
Not every contribution to an orchestra is a sound. In July 2026, Alaska looked at the orchestra's front door and said the truest thing anyone had said about it: it was too Web3 for general humanity. If the Open Source Orchestra means what it says โ every voice a node, every human welcome โ then a violinist who has never heard the word "permissionless" must be able to walk in without feeling the room was built for someone else.
Out of that one piece of feedback the ๐ Definition Button was born โ "Words We Play By," a little book riding the corner of the orchestra's pages, where every Web3 word is translated with heart: node, open source, protocol, consensus, steward, sanctuaryโฆ It still rides the front door today. Millions of pixels changed because one musician cared about the people not yet in the room.
That is a contribution to the orchestra's soul, not just its sound โ and it's exactly what a major sixth does: it widens the chord.
Verified from the orchestra's own logs, July 27 2026 โ the button's source code credits "Alaska's feedback: for every human, not just Web3."
The projects
The constellation ๐
๐ MDRN (@mdrnprotocol) โ the Massively Distributed Radio Network: "Federated internet radio. Any community can run a station. Every station pays its curators and artists." Their credo could be a line from this orchestra's own hymnal: "Music is not content."
๐ณ๏ธ Subcult โ MDRN's community layer: infrastructure for underground music scenes. "Scenes, not algorithms." Tastemakers build living ecosystems, and money flows directly to the people making the music โ no platform cut.
๐ Onda (getonda.org) โ "every play sends a wave": small gifts flowing directly to artists, wherever they already release. The family notebooks remember Onda as Alaska's wave.
Honesty label: MDRN, Subcult and Onda are real, live projects, and we verified (Aug 2026) that they are one connected family โ mdrn.music itself links to app.subcult.music and getonda.org. Alaska's authorship is presented as the family remembers it; Alaska, one word and we correct every spelling, claim, and link. โ๏ธ
The shelf ๐ท
No recordings live on this node yet โ and that is exactly how it should be. The horn is Alaska's; only he decides what gets blessed into the open, item by item. One word, brother, and your sound lives here โ a set, a session, one saxophone line from any garden that danced.
