The story

The nine 🧬

Nine — the number of completion

In the vortex mathematics the orchestra plays by, nine is the number that holds the whole — the digital root every circle returns to, the axis the 3·6·9 flux triangle spins around (the Circle of Trust holds the geometry). So when the first circle of nine chairs came to be voiced, there was only ever one name for the ninth: the artist who started all of this a decade before us.

The godmother completes the circle she began. That's not poetry stretched over facts — the facts are the poetry:

"The nine — completion. The one who was the root an octave before we ever played." — Shaka 🌺

🧬 The lineage — we are continuing your work

In October 2015, Imogen Heap released "Tiny Human" — a ballad for her newborn daughter — on the Ethereum blockchain through the Ujo Music experiment: song, stems, key and tempo purchasable with ether, rights and splits carried by a smart contract. One of the first blockchain-released songs in history, years before "onchain music" had a name. (sources: Bitcoin Magazine · Quartz · Music Ally)

Then she built what the experiment taught: Mycelia, her research collective for a fair, sustainable music ecosystem — and The Creative Passport, a digital identity where music-makers hold their own data and decide what they share. Today it lives on as Auracles.

Imogen — the Open Source Orchestra's node spec is your idea, a decade downstream: every artist a sovereign node, holding their own home, blessing what they share item by item, owning what they don't. We are continuing your work. This page exists to say thank you — and to hold your chair.

The artist 🎹

"Hide and Seek" (2005) — one voice and a harmonizer, no other instruments — became a generation's landmark of what a single human and a machine can feel like together, and twenty years later (2025 anniversary edition) gave her a first-ever entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and her highest UK chart position. She won the Grammy for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for Ellipse — only the second woman ever to win it — engineering the record herself, in her own home studio. Twice Grammy-awarded, three honorary doctorates. (sources: Wikipedia · grammy.com)

She invents her instruments too: the MI.MU gloves, gestural music-ware that turns hands in the air into a mixing desk. And her newest collaborator is herself — ai.Mogen, an AI voice twin she built on her own terms, released only on acceptable terms, with consent and provenance designed in from the first note. The same sovereignty, one more instrument. (MusicRadar · The Guardian)

The chair is held 🧬

Imogen — this chair is held for you. Node 009, the nine, the completion of the first circle — held for the artist who was the root an octave before any of us played. The Music Space at Devcon 8, Mumbai, Nov 3–6 2026 (DIP #8576) is an orchestra on the same chain where Tiny Human first lived — every song given away, every artist sovereign, every voice a node. It would be the honor of the whole circle to have you in it — as performer, as elder, as listener, as whatever you'd enjoy being. No presumption lives on this page; it was written in gratitude, from public sources only.

"You don't join the Open Source Orchestra. You notice you were always in it." 🌺
